Date Two-Bite Brownies
These two-bite brownies are the perfect decadent treat when you prefer your treats no added sugar, whole foods based, and nourishing.
Dates are often called nature’s candy because they are super sweet and gooey. They also provide significant fiber, electrolytes, and vitamins!
Cacao powder’s bitterness brings balance to the sweetness of dates while also being an antioxidant & nervine.
Walnuts help recreate the brownie texture, but they’re also astringent in taste which helps keep date’s fiber effect in check.
I’ve relied on treats like this to satisfy my sweet tooth while rehabilitating my childhood sugar addiction - now I just prefer them!
Serves 12+ (depending on size)
15-20 fresh Medjool dates, pitted
1/2c cacao powder
1/2c chopped walnuts (less if dates are small)
1tsp vanilla extract
good quality flaky salt
Using a food processor, blend dates, cacao, and vanilla until all powder is fully incorporated and the dates are completely processed. This will take a few minutes. Add walnuts. Spoon out about a tablespoon amount (or the size you prefer) and form into a two-bite brownie shape. Dip the top into salt. Keep refrigerated.
